The Northern Ireland Open is Northern Ireland’s homegrown national annual professional golf tournament and has been on the European Challenge Tour schedule since 2013. Prior to 2013 the NI Open featured on the PGA Europro Tour (2010-2012).
Since its inception as a European Tour Group event, the NI Open has been the European Challenge Tour’s standout tournament with record crowds growing year on year. In 2017 over 43,000 visitors attended and the event created and enjoyed the innovative ‘Shootout Sunday’ format, won by Frenchman Robin Sciot-Siegrist.
The NI Open is not just a golf event, rather a Golf Tournament for all the Family! The NI Open has something for everyone including a gin festival, food festival, kids fun area plus much more!
The NI Open has the full support of Niall Horan; Niall’s golf management company Modest! Golf have been an event partner since 2015 and as a massive golf fan, Niall is very involved in the event.

The NI Open is part of the European Challenge Tour’s international schedule, the second tier of men’s professional golf in Europe and the final stepping-stone to the ‘big time’ of world golf. The NI Open attracts a strong contingent of Irish European Tour winners such as Michael Hoey, Simon Thornton and Damien McGrane plus up and coming professionals such as Cormac Sharvin, Gary Hurley and Ballymena’s very own Dermot McElroy, plus a host of former European Tour winners and Ryder Cup players.
The event showcases the best of local food within the NI Open Village which also includes a wide range of Exhibitors, Live Music, the Village Bar and the Tournament Scoreboard.
The Interactive Zone offers something for all the family with FREE golf lessons for all and the opportunity to try your hand at Pitch & Putt on Galgorm Castle’s Fun Golf Area. Budding Rory McIlroys and Stephanie Meadows can become Junior NI Open Champions; the GolfNow Junior NI Open was launched in 2017 and was a great success so will return again in 2018 bigger and better!
